Groundbreaking developments for the new BECOM logistics hub in Hochstraß
On Monday, 6th May 2019, in wintery temperatures, groundbreaking developments took place for the new logistics hub of BECOM Electronics GmbH.

The celebratory event took place in the presence of the company Stahlbau Unger from Oberwart, which was the main contractor for the build, the Mayor of Lockenhaus, Christian Vlasich, the chairperson of the municipality of Hochstraß, Helga Stifter, as well as the management at BECOM.

The BECOM Group now comprises ten companies in six different locations in Europe, Asia and America. 350 employees are currently based at the company headquarters in Hochstraß. A total of almost 700 people are employed throughout the company group. With sales of more than €100 million, the company is one of the leading companies in the technology sector in Burgenland and throughout Austria. Its sales are generated in the areas of automobile industry, medical technology and industrial electronics.

The investment costs for the logistics hub came to €3.5 million and comprised an area of 1,800 m². The warehouse area is designed for storing semi-finished and finished goods with 2,500 pallet spaces. The building also includes space for cleaning recyclable packaging and commissioning customer deliveries. On the top floor, 500 m² is intended to be used as office space.

The building is scheduled to be completed in August 2019.

Both the managing director and owner, engineer Johann Bock and Franz Klein point out: “This development is crucial for the further development of the company group. We can meet our customers’ quality requirements while improving the logistical processing of orders. The result is increased efficiency and improved competitiveness, which in turn leads to securing and increasing the number of jobs.”

Over the past ten years, the Hochstraß site has invested more than €50 million in expansions, automating production processes, new technology and machines.
